چکیده

Background Techniques with adequate accuracy of working length determination along with shorter duration of treatment in pulpectomy procedure seems to be essential in pediatric dentistry. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the accuracy of root canal length measurement with Root ZX II apex locator and rotary system in pulpectomy of primary teeth. Material and Methods In this randomized control clinical trial complete pulpectomy was performed on 80 mandibular primary molars in 80, 4-6-year-old children. The study population was randomly divided into case and control groups. In control group conventional pulpectomy was performed and in the case group working length was determined by electronic apex locator Root ZXII and instrumented with Mtwo rotary files. Statistical evaluation was performed using Mann-Whitney and Chi-Square tests (P<0.05). Results There were no significant differences between electronic apex locator Root ZXII and conventional method in accuracy of root canal length determination. However significantly less time was needed for instrumenting with rotary files (P=0.000). Conclusions Considering the comparable results in accuracy of root canal length determination and the considerably shorter instrumentation time in Root ZXII apex locator and rotary system, it may be suggested for pulpectomy in primary molar teeth. Key words:Rotary technique, conventional technique, pulpectomy, primary teeth.

Success Rate of Zinc Oxide Eugenol in Pulpectomy of Necrotic Primary Molars: A Retrospective Study

Introduction: Pulpectomy is a conservative treatment plan for primary necrotic teeth and Zinc Oxide Eugenol is still a good choice as root canal filling material but long term studies on poor prognosis molars are limited and almost contradictory. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical and radiographical success rate of pulpectomy of necrotic primary molars using ZOE as the root c...

Comparing a Combination of Saline and Chlorhexidine with Saline as Root Canal Irrigation Solutions in Pulpectomy of the Primary Molars in 6-9 Years Old Children, A Double Blind Clinical Trial

Introduction: Using irrigation solutions in pulpectomy procedures for children is the best technique to dissolve and remove the soft necrotic materials during instrumentation. Normal saline solution (NSS) has no antibacterial activity and only results in root canal cleaning during irrigation. The 2% chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX) solution significantly decreases bacterial coloni...

Comparison of Cleaning Efficacy and Instrumentation Time of Reciproc and Mtwo Rotary Systems in Primary Molars

Background and Aim: Pulpectomy of primary teeth is commonly performed with hand files and instruments. However, it is a time consuming procedure. Compared to hand files, rotary instrumentation has more advantages. The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the cleaning efficacy and time taken for instrumentation of deciduous mo-lars using Reciproc and Mtwo rotary systems. Materials an...
